Mwanaisha Chidzuga, Dr Ofweneke Among Big Names Joining New Station, Radio 47

There is a new radio station in town, brought to you by the people behind TV47.

Radio 47 is promising to be one of the biggest names in Kenya, after attracting a bevy of famous names who have previously graced our TV and radio stations.

The new station has released an impressive schedule, that includes personalities like Mwanaisha Chidzuga, who will host the show Mchikicho, every weekday from 10:00am to 1:00pm.

The former KTN Swahili news anchor will bring you a playful but serious mix of conversation and entertainment.

Another famous media personality joining Radio 47 is Dr. Ofweneke, who is expected to tackle common issues affecting relationships, from a male perspective.

His show, Chemba, will air everyday from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

Podcaster Mkamburi Chigogo is also joining the station, where she’ll host the breakfast show alongside Emmanuel Mwashumbe everyday from 6:00am to 10:00am.

The combination of the sassy, unconventional female, and the authoritative alpha male is billed to produce an entertaining and fast paced breakfast show that will rival any on the air today.

Award winning gospel show presenter, Eva Mwalili, alias Mama Taifa will host Nuru 47, an inspiration show that will air from 4:00am to 6:00am daily, as well as a similar show on Sundays from 5:00am to 10:00am.

Ms Mwalili was previously at Milele FM.

Hosting the daily afternoon show, dubbed Baze 47 will be Manucho the Young Turk. The show will target the youth with topics such as celebrity news, entertainment and other trending news. It will air every weekday from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.

Radio 47, which launches on Monday March 13, will also feature former Radio Maisha presenters Billy Miya and Mbaruk Mwalimu, who will both host Maskani. The show will air from 3:00pm to 7:00 pm.

It is expected to give other evening drive shows a run for their money.

Radio 47 is also launching with a complete catalog of weekend shows, starting with Bahari ya Elimu, hosted by Ali Hassan Kaluleni. The educationist and Swahili aficionado is targeting students, teachers and institutions, with segments such as Chemsha bongo, Shairi, Shajara, Msamiati among others.

Bahari ya Elimu will air on Saturdays from 7:00am to 11:00am.

For the sports fans, the station has you covered with ‘Mikiki ya Spoti’, airing from 3:00pm to 7:00pm on Saturdays, and hosted by Ali Hassan and Lucky.

Billy Miya returns on Saturday nights, hosting a DJ-driven show from 7:00pm till midnight.

On Sunday evenings, Eric Wambugu the OG brings his excellent music selection skills, sampling the greatest golden oldies from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.

Completing the Sunday line up is Kikao cha Hoja, a 60 minute political talk show hosted by Liz Mutuku. She will host government officials, politicians and policy makers to discuss all the latest political news.

Radio 47 is available in Nairobi – 103.0 FM; Mombasa 92.9; Kisumu 101.2; Eldoret 100.9; Webuye 104.3; Malindi 92.9; Lamu 89.5 and Garsen 89.5.
